Operativity of Seth oil rig started in 2012. The rig, located in Ras El Barr area, approximately 60 kilometers far from the Mediterranean coast of Egypt, produces natural gas. Following an inceptive ramp-up phase, the fully operational mining activities now engenders about 4.8 million cubic meters of gas per-day.

Seth project consists of: a platform located at a water depth of about 80 meters; two production wells; a single pipeline 11 km long. The pipeline links the platform to the Treatment Plant on the ground of El Gamil, which handles about 20 % of extracted natural gas in Egypt, through the existing transport network.
Development of this project is a further testimony to the commitment of Italian energetic companies in Egypt and especially their contribution to facilitate growing demand for energy in Egypt through the exploration and development of gas reserves in Mediterranean Sea.

D.E.A., working in a close cooperation with ABB, executed the configuration and commisioning of the ESD part, Fire & Gas and DCS based on 800xA system with AC 800M controllers MI.
The ESD and F & G configuration, overall distributed on 3 controllers, has been developed by D.E.A. in full compliance with the SIL3 safety regulations.
D.E.A. team also edited data communications part for DCS system, concerning process management and all related documentation part.
DCS system configuration (600 hardware signals process and over 60 graphic pages) was carried out by D.E.A., developing high impact graphic symbols in a strict coordination with the Client requirements.
