TORREVALDALIGA : Thermoelectric Power Plant
A PROJECT MADE WITH
‘Torrevaldaliga Nord’ is a thermoelectric Power Plant, fueled by coal & consisting with3 groups of 660 MW steam capable of an overall capacity equal to 1980 MW.
The Plant is located in Torrevaldaliga town, nearby Civitavecchia city. Since 2003, when technological conversion started, the current system replaced the previous poer structure, characterized by fuel oil supply.
Plants consists by three units, each one operating with steam, produced by combustion of pulverized coal into ultrasupercritical boilers, with a capacity of 660 MW per single unit.
Currently, after the renewal of the local Integrated Environmental Laws, occurred during 2013, the central North Torrevaldaliga operates for 7500 hours a year, burning 4.5 billion tons / year of coal and 150 million Sm3 of natural gas (for phases starter), as reported by the Italian Ministerial (ref.: Decree 114 April 5th, 2013).
The gas treatment unit includes:
– DeNOx system for NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) reduction, already operating in the combustion process;
– Filters Channel;
All these elements are prerequisite: they allow the effectiveremoval of particulate matter emitted from combustion processes (rating of filtering power: 99.9%).
SITE-SPECIFIC OPERATIONS BY D.E.A. TECHNICIANS
D.E.A. Development team supervised the whole project evolution, during all phases.
New DCS system has been implemented with ABB technology (IT Industrial 800xA with AC-870-P controllers).
In details, D.E.A. handled:
– Configuration of Logical schemes and Engineering of Process Management (40 processors for 20000 signals) and related graphic pages.
– FAT operations with the End customer
– On-site services & operations
Nowadat, members of D.E.A. team is still active at work inside the Plant as the main representative of DCS technology.
UPDATES FROM POWER PLANT
Torrevaldaliga North Business Unit achieved in 2014 renewal of the Integrated Environmental Authorization (AIA) which contains organically environmental permissions, paying respect to the previous authorization tighter constraints on emissions, thus to protect people and local environment.
Alignment with Best Available Practices, associated with the Italian State Agency AIA, and the maintenance of EMAS certification offer a vision of absolute excellence for the Power Plant, in terms of environmental performance.
